ADULT: Wingspan 16-20mm. Another bird-dropping look-alike with greyish-white wings and a dark-blue-black blotch on the leading edge. Wavy cream lines are present and the abdomen is bluish-grey with a white tip. CHRYSALIS: Pupates in loose soil or leaf litter. Overwinters in this stage. LARVA: Yellow-green with red markings feeding on a variety of plants including Yarrow, Birds-Foot Trefoil and Red Clover. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light. HABITAT: Woodland edges, grassland, downlands and waste areas. FLIGHT PERIOD: Double brooded. May to September. STATUS: Resident.  Common throughout.
